AIP-Japan operates a series of Japan-focused private equity funds. AIP-Japan is a subsidiary of Asia Investment Partners, Inc., which is headquartered in Denver, Colorado, U.S.A.

AIP raised its first fund in 1999, with commitments from a small group of high-net worth individual investors. In 2006, AIP raised its 4th fund, which included its first institutional capital. Most recently, AIP completed a first closing of its 5th fund in 2011 and executed its first acquisition. Additionally, AIP has the ability to take on much larger transactions through partnering with a proprietary network of co-investors as well as tapping additional capital from its deep high net worth investor base.
